International Camporee Leaders Guide

The SDIC 2012 International Camporee is SOLD OUT. We are completely filled up. The only positions remaining are Staff positions. We are seeking youth and adult volunteers to help us with check in, parking, and running the competitions and challenge events on Saturday. Staffers pay only $10 and receive five meals, a unique Staff International Camporee patch, a staff T-shirt, bragging rights, and other benefits. If you are interested, please click on the link above and submit a Staff Application.

The SDIC 2012 International Camporee will be a unique weekend event with more than 1,200 participants from the U.S., Mexico, and other countries. Approximately 30% of the Scouts and Venturers participating at the Camporee will be from Mexico, and a smaller number of participants will be from outside of North America. The International Camporee will provide a venue and opportunity for Scouts from the U.S., Mexico, and around the world to meet each other and share their customs, traditions and scouting experiences.

The SDIC 2012 International Camporee is scheduled on the same weekend as the 2012 Jamboree On The Trail (JOTT) and the International Camporee will host JOTT activities during the weekend. All participants at the SDIC 2012 International Camporee will have the opportunity to earn the 2012 JOTT Crest, if they participate in one or more of the scheduled JOTT activities at the International Camporee. Earning the 2012 JOTT Crest is optional. We will have a limited quantity of 2012 JOTT Crest patches for sale for $2 each. They will provided to those who indicate on the International Camporee Registration Form that they are interested in earning the 2012 JOTT Crest patch and complete at least one JOTT activity. Again the 2012 JOTT Crest patch is an optional item that may be earned and purchased for $2, while they last, at the International Camporee.

2012 JOTT Crest

The cost of the SDIC 2012 International Camporee Patch is included in the International Camporee Registration Fee, and one patch will be provided to each participant at no additional cost.

Location

The 2012 International Camporee will be held at Mataguay Scout Ranch, 27955 Highways 79,  Santa Ysabel, CA 92070, 65 miles from San Diego. The San Diego-Imperial Council has made major investments to upgrade the facilities at Mataguay Scout Ranch over the past three years. The Mataguay swimming pool has been improved, and the new Pool House has hot and cold showers and flush toilets. A new flag plaza has been constructed at the A-Frame where guests check in, Parker Lake has been dredged and enlarged, and the road to Mataguay has been scraped smooth.

Program Areas

Activities at the International Camporee will include swimming, rowing, canoeing, fishing, Scoutcraft, nature, archery, rifle shooting, COPE, games, and challenge activities. Special theme activities relating to California and Camp Mataguay history will be offered. There will be no rank or merit badge work planned for the International Camporee.

International Contingents

All contingents are responsible for their own transportation to and from California and to and from Mataguay Scout Ranch. Every Scout should arrange to bring his or her own personal camping equipment to the International Camporee. Depending on availability, Scouting units from outside of the U.S. may request that tents and cooking gear be made available to them at the International Camporee. Every effort to provide the requested equipment will be made; however, no guarantee can be made that equipment will be available.

U.S., Canadian, Mexican and other International Contingents

All U.S. and International youth participants at the 2012 International Camporee must be registered Scouts or Venturers and must be part of a Troop or Crew contingent to the International Camporee.
