International Awareness Emblem
The International Catholic Conference of Scouting, a world-wide organization, offers a Pin and Patch for Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and a Medallion and Patch for Senior Scouts, Venturers, and Scouters who complete the requirements for the International Awareness Emblem..
The International Catholic Conference of Scouting provides an opportunity for its members to meet together as friends in the Catholic Church. It links the Catholic Church and the Scouting Movement all over the world. It contributes to the complete education of young people through Scouting from the perspective of the Catholic faith. It develops and enhances the spiritual dimension of Scouting in the World Scout Movement.
The Pope appoints priests to work with the International Catholic Conference of Scouting as ecclesiastical assistants (chaplains). This recognition activity is an ongoing special project of the International Committee of the National Catholic Conference on Scouting (USA). Proceeds will further the work of the International Catholic Conference of Scouting and help enable representation by NCCS chaplains at ICCS meetings and NCCS chaplain support at international scouting events.
All youths and adults may complete the requirements and earn the emblems.
Youths and adults must complete age-appropriate requirements to earn the International Awareness Emblems. The requirements may be worked on individually or in a group setting. Click on the emblems by grade and age level below to display the detailed requirements for earning the Pin, Patch, and Medallion at a specific level.
Ordering the Recognition Items
After completing the emblem requirements, a parent or scout leader must complete the NCCS Order Form. Each diocese has one or two indivduals who are designated to purchase religious emblems and recognition items. Only these NCCS-authorized submitters are allowed to order for their diocese. Please consult with your local Diocesan Catholic Committee on Scouting to identify the NCCS-authorized submitters who can submit the NCCS Order Form. Give the completed NCCS Order Form and the applicable fee to the NCCS-authorized submitters. The answers to the questions do not need to be forwarded when ordering the patch.
Presenting the Emblems
The Pin, Medallion, and Patch can be presented to those who have earned them in a formal Awards Mass, Scout meeting, by family members, etc. The presentation should be special, so the recipients understand the significance of earning the emblems. Also, the presentation should be made in a timely manner with recognition given shortly after completing the activity.
NOTE: This is an activity of the NCCS International Committee, not a religious emblems program or award. This is a non-restrictive activity. You may wear the Pin, Patch, and Medallion on formal occasions.
