The International Letter of Introduction is issued by the International Division of the Boy Scouts of America. It is provided to the leader in charge of a group of registered Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Varsity Scouts, Explorers, or Scouters traveling abroad with an approved National Tour Plan. It is not issued to each individual member of a group. This document of the World Organization of the Scout Movement is recognized worldwide as a means of official identification with the movement and does not imply special accommodations, reception, or hospitality privileges other than that of good Scouting friendship. Attached to each letter of introduction will be an address card for the national Scout association in each country to be visited.
To obtain an official International Letter of Introduction for your group, please fill out the application below and submit it to the SDIC service center.
Individuals wishing the International Letter of introduction for travel to another country alone or with family members may also submit the International Letter of Introduction Application Form. Again, the purpose of the Letter of Introduction is to introduce visiting Scouts to other Scouts in forieign countries. It conveys no special privileges, including any entitlement to hospitality.
