Scouts of Japan - 2008

Scouts of Japan, International Relations Committee Members and Host Families

On August 2, 2008, we had 26 Scouts and Scouters from Japan visit us for a couple of days of Homestay. Scouts of Japan are like most other countries where they are coed. Three of the Scouts were young ladies. They had just spent a week up at Mataguay Scout Reservation, where they enjoyed a weeklong experience of camping and participated in many events.

We were able to quickly organize 10 Host Families thanks to Misako R. who took on the task single-handedly. Many of the Host Families took two Scouts, while others took three. The families entertained them for the balance of Saturday and then all day Sunday.

Some of the events that they did with their Host Families were: Attending an Eagle Scout Court of Honor, going to a Padres Game, a Birthday Party, and going to the Beach.

Monday morning they returned for the final leg of their tour. But first it was a quick trip into the Scout Store for a few more souvenirs, then more pictures and saying goodbyes to their Hosts.

The final leg was a tour of Los Angelas before heading back to their homes in Japan.

Japan will be the Host of the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in 2015. More information on this World Scout Jamboree is HERE.
